President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, following a telephone conversation with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, said on Twitter that Canada supports Ukraine and thanked for the financial assistance.

“I had an important conversation with my friend Justin Trudeau about the diplomatic de-escalation efforts of our allies. I welcome Canada's decision to provide a significant financial package to strengthen Ukraine," Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian president called the talks "a powerful signal that Ukraine and Canada are together."

Meanwhile, the Canadian embassy in Ukraine was evacuated from Kiev.

Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly said that due to the “aggravation” of the situation in Ukraine, the embassy in Kiev will suspend its work, and consular services will be provided only from the Lviv consulate.

Prior to this, the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that the diplomatic missions of the EU countries in Kiev are not going to stop their work.
