Russia - Revda hosted the first match of the final of the Russian Basketball Cup

Russia (bbabo.net), - In the city of Revda, Sverdlovsk region, the first game of the two-legged confrontation of the Russian Cup final among men's teams took place. Local "Temp-SUMZ-UMMC" defeated BC "Samara" with a score of 74:71. The return match will take place on March 20 on the banks of the Volga.

It is time to assign the status of the Super Cup to the current final of the Cup of the country. True, the Russian Basketball Federation (RBF) has not yet played such a trophy in men's competitions. "Temp-SUMZ-UMMC" is the current holder of the RF Cup, "Samara" won the Superleague 1 play-off last season. In the current regular championship of the division, the rivals take the third and fourth places, respectively. In the first round, the team from Revda prevailed over the Volzhans - 90:83.

But here is the time to recall the rules of the cup battles. Here, unlike the championship, foreign players cannot be used (in Superleague 1 limit - no more than two foreigners in a team). If the team from Revda does not use the services of the Varangians, then in Samara there are two rather skillful legionnaires. They are Nigerian-born Ikechukwu Nwamu and Latvian Artem Butyankov. However, they will not help their team in the Russian Cup.

The opponents started the final in a tenacious and ineffective fight - 11:10 in favor of Volzhan according to the results of the starting quarter. In the next 10-minute segment, the hosts began to gradually move forward. They replaced the silver medalist of the Tokyo Olympics Ilya Karpenkov. He won an award as part of the Russian national team in the debut Olympic sport of 3x3 basketball, although he feels quite comfortable in the classic version of the 5x5 game. In the final, he scored five points in a minute and a half of the second period. Much to the break, the leadership was already in Revda - "plus 9" (31:22).

In the middle of the third quarter, after Daniil Aksenov's hit, the advantage of the team from Revda increased to the maximum 18 points in this match - 45:27. If it were possible to maintain such an advantage, then "Temp-SUMZ-UMMC" would have been considered a clear favorite before the return game. Samarans categorically did not want to put up with such a possible scenario.

Well-aimed three-point shots by Yevgeny Fidiy and Alexander Varnakov allowed Samara to get closer to the opponent – 41:53. Well, the final quarter of the Volga players did have a shock. In the 38th minute, Revda's advantage melted to three points. This distance between the teams remained until the final siren (74:71 in favor of the hosts). Let us clarify that if after 40 minutes of pure time the scoreboard had a draw score, then the judges would not appoint any additional five minutes. Such is the format of two-match confrontations - draws are allowed here, although formally the final equality is not provided for in the official rules of basketball.

Daniil Aksenov (18 points), Maxim Kolyushkin (15) and Azat Tukmakov (12) were the most productive among the winners, Maxim Barashkov (20) and Alexander Varnakov (18) scored among the Volzhans.
