Advisor to three US presidents predicted a split in the country

The United States will not pass another “strength test” due to the abundance of political opponents. This point of view was expressed by Patrick Buchanan, Senior Advisor to US Presidents Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan. He shared his opinion on the pages of The American Conservative.

“We had everything at once. We were an "indispensable power". We looked to the future. We imposed our "benevolent hegemony" on the rest of humanity," the adviser said. But then he added that, in creating the "new world order", Washington consistently got involved in wars.

“Now we ourselves are bleeding, distracted, draining ourselves and heading for a split,” Buchanan concluded.

He recalled the slogan of the 70s "Come Home America".

In his opinion, the White House has acquired strong geopolitical opponents, including Russia and China, and will not be able to deal with such opponents at the same time.

Earlier it became known about an attempt by the State Department to disrupt the visit of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro to Moscow - this was the conclusion of the authors of the local Folha de S. Paulo, who also spoke about such steps against the Argentine authorities. Is it possible to interpret Washington's actions as an attempt to make a diplomatic "outcast" out of Moscow, and what does Russia's relations with the largest Latin American powers have to do with it?
