Ukraine put forward air defense systems to the borders

Ukraine has begun to push its medium and long-range air defense (air defense) systems to the borders of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, as well as to Belarus. Izvestia writes about this, citing sources familiar with the situation.

According to them, up to two divisions of S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems were deployed in the areas of Donbass controlled by Kiev. Buk-M1 units were deployed near the Russian-Belarusian border. Also, the Stinger portable anti-aircraft missile systems were previously handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). However, their exact number is unknown.

As military expert Dmitry Boltenkov told the publication, these air defense systems are already outdated and can only show themselves “somewhere in Africa.” In addition, he expressed doubt that the Stinger systems are effective, since the Ukrainian side received a batch of missiles that had been released a long time ago. Another expert pointed out that this weapon has not yet been tested in real conditions.

Recently, a representative of the press service of the People's Militia of the LPR said that the Ukrainian security forces are preparing to send paratroopers to the rear of the Donbass republics.

The Ukrainian authorities are actively purchasing decommissioned foreign weapons, as well as receiving military assistance from Western countries. NATO has been sending military instructors to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) for several years now. On February 6, The Mirror reported that more than 100 British special forces were sent to Ukraine to train the Ukrainian military. Recently, Canada and Latvia also sent their soldiers there, and earlier it was reported about the presence of military personnel from the United States, Lithuania and other states in the country. The United States and NATO sent several shipments of weapons to Ukraine - 80 tons of military cargo, including 300 Javelin anti-tank missile systems.
