“If he has been on a ventilator for a long time, this, to put it mildly, is not very good. This is necessary if a person dies otherwise, there is a hopeless situation, ”the specialist said.
Kryuchkov explained that prolonged mechanical ventilation can lead to multiple organ failure and nosocomial infections.
He noted that the duration of treatment for COVID-19 varies greatly depending on the severity of the disease. According to him, seriously ill patients with COVID-19 “are lying for two or three weeks, and they are lying for a month if they get into intensive care”
