Russia (bbabo.net), - The US authorities have decided to give a negative answer to Russia's key proposals for security guarantees. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The minister noted that Washington gave a negative response to Moscow's proposals to abandon NATO expansion, non-deployment of strike weapons and the return of the military-technical configuration of Europe to the model that existed in 1997. "Of course, this cannot satisfy us," Lavrov said, quoted by RIA Novosti.

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry added that Moscow had carefully studied the responses received from the United States and NATO. "We are primarily interested in the US response, because everyone understands who plays the main role in resolving these issues in the Western camp," Lavrov explained.

At the end of December last year, Moscow published draft agreements on security guarantees, which were sent to US and NATO representatives. Washington and Brussels responded to Moscow in writing at the end of January.
