Russia (bbabo.net), - Nord Stream 2 is the largest infrastructure project on the European continent, and since December last year it has been technically completely ready for operation, Russian President Vladimir Putin said following talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The gas pipeline is designed to significantly strengthen the energy security of the continent, contribute to the solution of pan-European economic and environmental problems.

"I have said more than once that this project is a purely commercial project, and there is no politics, no political overtones here," the Russian leader emphasized.

He also noted that Russia is ready to continue gas supplies through Ukraine after 2024, when the current transit contract expires. "Naturally, if there is a demand for it from European importers and it will be profitable, and the gas transportation system of Ukraine itself will be in good technical condition," Putin explained the conditions.
