Scholz praised Putin's statement about the genocide in the Donbass

Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz said he does not believe that the concept of "genocide" is applicable to the situation in the Donbass. This is reported by the TV channel Welt.

“This is a strong word, but if you follow the Russian press, it is not new. But this is not true, I think it should be clearly stated, ”said Scholz.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he considers what is happening in the Donbass to be genocide.

Also, the officer of the press service of the defense department of the republic, Anton Mikuzhys, said that the people's militia of the self-proclaimed Lugansk people's republic opened fire on the positions of Ukrainian security forces in the Donbass after the death of a militiaman who was shot dead by a Ukrainian sniper.

The day before, the Ministry of State Security of the LPR reported that they had prevented a terrorist attack in the center of Luhansk.

The deputies of the State Duma supported the draft resolution developed by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation on an appeal to President Vladimir Putin with a request to recognize the independence of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.

The draft was approved by the majority of deputies: 351 members of the State Duma voted for its adoption, 16 people opposed, and one more abstained.
