Russia has conducted and will continue to conduct exercises on its territory, this is its right and it is not subject to discussion with anyone. This was stated during a briefing by the press secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov, RIA Novosti reports.

“Russia has conducted and will continue to conduct exercises throughout the Russian Federation. This is an ongoing process, as in all countries of the world. This is our right to conduct exercises there, on our territory, where we deem appropriate, and it is not subject to discussion with anyone, ”the Kremlin spokesman said.

The West accuses Russia of amassing some 145,000 troops on various sections of its border with Ukraine, including in Belarus, where joint military exercises have taken place. Allegedly, this is how the Kremlin is preparing an attack on Ukraine. Moscow denies all accusations and emphasizes that any movement of troops across the country is a sovereign matter.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia is starting and completing exercises on its territory according to plan. The minister stressed that the duration of the maneuvers is not affected in any way by the reaction from the Western countries.
