Zelensky's party called the number of Russian troops near Ukraine insufficient for an invasion

The leader of the faction of the Servant of the People party in the Verkhovna Rada, David Arakhamia, called the number of Russian troops near the border of Ukraine insufficient to invade the country. This is reported by the portal NV.

Arakhamia said that during the escalation in the spring of 2021, 220,000 Russian soldiers and equipment were concentrated around the borders of Ukraine, which was theoretically enough for a “big attack”. Now, according to him, Moscow has sent half as many troops to the Ukrainian borders - 123 thousand people.

“From a military point of view, as the military explained to us, a full-scale attack is impossible… Based on coordination actions, they [intelligence] do not see that [the Russians] are directly preparing…,” said the Ukrainian parliamentarian. He added that with a probability of 99.9% on February 16, "nothing will happen." Arakhamia also added that dozens of Russian tanks are allegedly "bogged down in swamps" due to the current weather, and now the military does not know "how to get this equipment."

Earlier, Politico sources informed about the statement by US President Joe Biden during a conversation with the leaders of allied countries that Russia could allegedly attack Ukraine on February 16.
