OIC condemns calls for genocide of Muslims in India

The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has expressed deep concern over the recent public calls for genocide against Muslims in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and other episodes of violent Islamophobia in India.

The OIC said that the ongoing attacks on Muslims and their places of worship, as well as the trend of anti-Muslim laws being passed in various states of the country and the rise in incidents of violence against Muslims, are indicative of the rise of Islamophobia in India.

The organization, which unites dozens of Muslim countries, also condemned insults against Indian Muslim women on social networks and a ban on wearing hijabs by students in the state of Karnataka, informs bbabo.net with reference to ArabNews.

The OIC called on the international community, especially the UN, to take the necessary measures to protect the rights of Muslims in India, and demanded from the Asian country itself to ensure the safety and well-being of the religious minority.
