NATO frigates tried to conduct electronic reconnaissance of Russian ships during exercises in the Mediterranean Sea. A source told RIA Novosti about this.

The Russian side has recorded radar emissions from the ships of the North Atlantic Alliance. The parameters of their movement were determined, after which the American frigates were taken for escort.

A detachment of ships from the Pacific, Northern and Black Sea fleets has been assembled in the Mediterranean Sea. The frigates "Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov", "Admiral Grigorovich", the missile cruisers "Varyag" and "Marshal Ustinov", large anti-submarine ships "Admiral Tributs", "Vice-Admiral Kulakov" and support vessels arrived in the water area. They are supported by 30 aircraft and helicopters.

Actions are being worked out to defeat ship groups of a mock enemy, as well as firing at sea and air targets using artillery and anti-submarine weapons. A search is underway for enemy submarines, navigation in the water area and the air situation are controlled.
