Poland may stop paying contributions to the European Union budget if EU funds are closed to it, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Deputy Minister of Justice of Poland, Sebastian Kaleta.

"If funds are blocked for Poland, Poland will be able to question those policies of the European Union that are worth something to the Poles, which have a negative impact on the Polish budget," the Deputy Minister added. He noted that the refusal to pay contributions will look like this “so that the Polish budget could compensate for the violation of the Polish constitution and EU legislation in the form of blocking funds to Poland in another way,” Kaleta said.

On Wednesday, February 16, the EU Court rejected the claims of Hungary and Poland to recognize national law as superior to the common European one.

Earlier, Prime Minister Viktor Orban hinted at a possible exit of Hungary from the European Union.

According to the Hungarian prime minister, if the EU makes a “wrong decision”, then their path with Hungary will “diverge”.
