Belgian authorities announced the possibility of introducing a 4-day work week

Belgian Prime Minister Alexandre de Croo has announced a reform in the labor market, which should be carried out "taking into account the lessons" of the coronavirus pandemic. The package "provides more freedom and more flexibility for employees to better balance their personal lives and work."

So, if you wish, you can work more hours during the day to get an extra day off. Thus, people will be able to work four days a week, being full-time, writes RIA Novosti. To switch to such a mode of work, the consent of the employer will be required, and the refusal must be motivated.

The government's goal is to achieve 80 percent of employment in Belgium by 2030, up from 71 percent currently. Among the measures: improving working conditions, increasing the attractiveness of unpopular professions, assistance in finding a new job, etc. The proposed reform must be approved by parliament and trade unions.

Recall that from February 1, the Belgian labor code will be replenished with a new norm. From now on, bosses cannot call their employee during non-working hours. And for the subordinates themselves, they secured the "right to turn off" - they officially can not pick up the phone and not respond to email messages.
