Muftis join prayers for figure skater Valieva

Russia and the CIS (bbabo.net) - The muftis of the Spiritual Board of Muslims (SUM) of the Russian Federation, headed by Ravil Gainutdin, prayed in support of figure skater Kamila Valieva. This was announced by the deputy chairman of the religious organization Rushan Abbyasov, noting that the voice of the representatives of the muftiate was heard.

"We read a dua (a prayer appeal to the Almighty) asking for a solution to the situation with Kamila Valieva. Our voice was heard. We wish Valieva victories and confidently represent our country in such important competitions," RIA Novosti quotes Abbyasov.

The International Doping Testing Agency previously reported that Valieva's doping test dated December 25, 2021 tested positive for trimetazidine. The result of the test was transmitted by the anti-doping laboratory in Stockholm on February 8. The Russian Anti-Doping Agency imposed a temporary suspension on Valiyeva, after the athlete's appeal on February 9, it was removed.

The International Olympic Committee, the World Anti-Doping Agency and the International Skating Union filed a protest with the Court of Arbitration for Sport. On Monday, the court rejected the appeals and allowed Valieva to compete in the Olympics.

Earlier, Archpriest Andrei Alekseev, who acts as the confessor of the Russian national team from the Russian Orthodox Church, spoke about a private conversation with a famous figure skater from Tatarstan. “Regarding Kamila: we had a good conversation, it was not a conversation for the public, just paternal,” said a representative of the Orthodox denomination.
