The Mufti explained to the operatives of the Federal Penitentiary Service the subtleties of working with Muslims

Russia and the CIS (bbabo.net) - A lesson on the basics of Islam was held yesterday at the Tomsk Institute for Advanced Studies of the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Russian Federation for students of the training group on organizing operational-search activities.

Nizamuddin Zhumaev, mufti of the Tomsk Region Spiritual Muslim Board, Imam-Khatib of the Red Mosque of Tomsk, spoke before the heads of operational units of the territorial bodies of the Federal Penitentiary Service of seven regions who came to Tomsk to improve their professional level.

One of the main issues of the meeting was the combination of the religious rites of convicted adherents of Islam with the internal regulations in correctional institutions and pre-trial detention centers. In recent years, the number of religious practitioners among ethnic Muslims has been growing, including in prisons. There are many cases when a person, once in places of detention, comes to religion, due to the fact that in the pre-trial detention center the offender has enough time to comprehend the past days and the future.

In a lively, relaxed atmosphere, Mufti Zhumaev and operatives discussed the intricacies of working with believers in colonies and prisons, and issues of preventing religious extremism. Nizamuddin-hazrat answered questions from the audience, which mainly concerned the differences between the traditional Islamic dogma and the views of radical groups. The staff of the Institute and the mufti agreed on further joint work.
