Ukrainian consul proposed to destroy Russia

The Ukrainian consul in Montenegro, Mikhail Shmatov, published a post on Facebook calling for the “destruction” of Russia.

In the message, Shmatov proposed on December 19 (as it was originally in the text) to hold a unity march with Ukraine in Podgorica (the capital of Montenegro).

“Flags, banners, posters and any manifestations of patriotic creativity are welcome,” the Ukrainian diplomat wrote.

He accompanied the publication with the hashtag “Russia must be destroyed.”

Some time later, Shmatov edited the post and replaced the words about Russia with the phrase “Ukrainians will resist,” and changed the original date to February 19.

Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commented on the words of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, who announced the need to spread the broadcasting of Ukrainian television in the Donbass.

Zelensky’s statement was made on Unity Day, a celebration that took place on February 16 to show the unity of Ukrainians, during the visit of the Ukrainian leader to the Donetsk region.

In August 2020, Shmatov expressed outrage at the opening of borders for Russian citizens and the inclusion of Russia in the "green list" of countries with a satisfactory epidemiological situation.
