Canadian Foreign Ministry has achieved the possibility of exit for Canadians from Ukraine through neighboring countries

The Canadian Foreign Ministry obtained assurances from the authorities of Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia that in the event of an aggravation of the situation on the Russian-Ukrainian border, Canadian citizens will be able to leave Ukraine through border crossings with these countries. This was reported by the CBC TV channel with reference to the office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Melanie Joly.

“If Canadians try to leave Ukraine in a hurry, they will be able to do it without hindrance through these four countries,” the Foreign Ministry said.

The Canadian Ministry of Defense announced that it has begun to transfer its military from Ukraine to another point in Europe.

The Department of Defense said in a statement that the temporary military relocation does not mean the end of the Canadian mission, but is intended to "refocus efforts" and maintain the safety of the Canadian military.

Earlier, the Canadian Ministry of Defense said that on February 4 they sent a C-177 Globemaster military transport aircraft with another batch of non-lethal weapons to Ukraine.

The West has repeatedly accused Russia of the impending "invasion" of the territory of Ukraine. As an argument, Western politicians use the fact that the Russian Federation has allegedly increased its presence in the border zones with Ukraine - up to 125,000 soldiers.

Moscow denies all accusations and emphasizes that any movement of troops across the country is a sovereign matter. NATO and the allies of the alliance think otherwise and are preparing a package of sanctions in case of an invasion.

Russian Ambassador to Canada Oleg Stepanov commented on Ottawa's decision to supply lethal weapons to Ukraine. He noted that any supply of weapons to a country "with an unresolved internal armed conflict is unacceptable." According to the diplomat, “this does not bring peace closer,” but only “prolongs and aggravates the fratricidal conflict in Ukraine.”
