The first aviation regiment, which is equipped with the Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, has joined the long-range aviation. This is reported by Izvestia, citing sources in the Russian Ministry of Defense.
It is planned that the first air regiment with hypersonic missiles "Dagger" will be used to destroy the most protected targets.
A separate regiment of the MiG-31K was located at the Savasleika airfield in the Nizhny Novgorod region. He is subordinate to the Long-Range Aviation Command.
Until the end of December this year, the new air regiment can be replenished with several new missile carriers received from industry.
According to the latest information, the new "dagger" aviation regiment has already begun combat training work.
On February 15, MiG-31K planes have already landed in Syria. Fighters are involved in large-scale exercises in the Mediterranean Sea.
The former commander of the 4th Air Force and Air Defense Army, Lieutenant General Valery Gorbenko, explained that fighters with hypersonic Kinzhal missiles would be able to accompany bombers.
“At the same time, MiGs will be able to cover bombers from enemy fighters,” Gorbenko said.
Earlier, exercises involving 20 ships started in the Caspian Sea.
