Crimean schoolchildren donate tulips to those who help sick children

Russia and the CIS (bbabo.net) - A charity event "Merhametlik Lyalesi" ("Mercy Tulip") started in Crimea, initiated by the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. The purpose of the event is to help seriously ill children and their families.

The action "Tulip of Mercy" has been held in the republic since 2009. People make feasible donations in favor of families where a child is seriously ill, and schoolchildren give them tulips made by their own hands in gratitude.

Children and teenagers of the republic make hundreds of various crafts - tulips. These are colorful articles made of paper, ceramics and fabrics, pictures embroidered with beads, and many other works of talented young craftsmen who are the embodiment of the creative initiative of children.

The tulip was chosen as the symbol of the action because it is a cultural symbol of the Crimea, it can often be seen on Turkish and Tatar ornaments. In addition, the action takes place on the eve of spring, the time when tulips bloom in the steppe.

Along with the “Tulip of Mercy” campaign, for several years now, the White Flower campaign has been taking place in the cities of the republic, with the active participation of the Simferopol and Crimean diocese. The proceeds from the event are also used to treat seriously ill children.
