Russia withdrew part of the tanks after the exercises near the Ukrainian border

An echelon with tanks and other armored vehicles of the Western Military District (ZVO) left for a permanent base after the completion of the exercises near the border with Ukraine. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The agency's message does not indicate the exact location. It is noted that the transfer of heavy equipment is carried out by rail over a distance of about 1 thousand km.

“Upon arrival at the point of permanent deployment, servicemen will have to carry out maintenance of military equipment and prepare it for further planned combat training activities of the winter training period,” the Defense Ministry said.

On February 15, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Major General Igor Konashenkov, announced that the Russian armed forces had completed part of the military exercises. Thus, the troops of the Southern and Western military districts have completed exercises in western Russia and Belarus and are returning to their garrisons.

German Defense Minister Christina Lambrecht said that the "withdrawal of troops", which NATO considers the return of Russian units from the exercises, is not a reason to "end the alarm."
