Protesters clash with police in Kiev

On February 17, protesting entrepreneurs clashed with law enforcement forces near the building of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada. The reason for dissatisfaction was the adoption by the country's authorities of a law on the mandatory installation of cash registers.

In the morning, several hundred entrepreneurs gathered in the center of Kiev. When the police tried to push back the crowd from Hrushevsky Street and Constitution Square, the protesters started throwing eggs and stones at the security forces. In response, the police fired tear gas. The Ukrainian authorities reported casualties among the personnel of law enforcement agencies, as well as the arrests of several participants in the protest action.

Earlier, on January 25, Ukrainian entrepreneurs held a demonstration demanding the adoption of a simplified system for using cash registers, during which clashes with the police were also noted.
