The governor donated part of the salary for the restoration of the mosque

Russia and the CIS (bbabo.net) - On Wednesday, February 16, the governor of the Samara region Dmitry Azarov held a meeting with representatives of the spiritual administration of Muslims of the province and business to complete the reconstruction of the Historical Mosque in the regional capital, NIA Samara reports.

The building of the Samarka historical mosque was built in 1891 at the expense of the Simbirsk manufacturer Timerbulat Akchurin. During the Soviet era, a kindergarten was located here. And 17 years ago the mosque was returned to believers.

A large-scale reconstruction of the cultural heritage site began several years ago. Over the years, the foundation has been strengthened. A two-story building with a dome and a 38-meter minaret with a view of the Volga and the city center were added to the historical part. In addition, a basement floor was built, which houses engineering rooms, a wardrobe and a bathroom. Despite the repair work, the mosque continues to operate.

“Our workers work every day. And we managed to almost completely finish the main entrance to the mosque, the room of the imam on duty. Almost all rooms in the basement are completed, first of all, the ablution room. The work is complex, because we make the decoration from Turkish marble,” said Usman Ilingin, chairman of the board of the local Muslim religious organization Samara Historical Mosque.

On the second floor, a room for celebrations is completely ready - the nikah room. “We have not opened yet, but we already have a long queue for marriage,” Usman Ilingin said. He added that now the painting of the dome is underway, on which Samara artists are working. “The readiness here is 80%. The inscriptions from the Koran are all done, now they are covered with gold leaf. We are in a hurry, because the holy month of Ramadan for us will begin in April, and we want to fully open this part of the mosque for our parishioners,” said the chairman of the historical mosque.

Facade work continues. There is a lot of stucco, which was restored according to the sketches of 1903. Mosaic panels have already taken their place. “The project is quite complex, there are a lot of details that need to be recreated with maximum accuracy. As soon as it gets warmer, we will continue the facade work, which we want to finish by autumn. Improvement of the adjacent territory is still ahead,” said Takhir Ayupov, head of the contractor.

The main difficulty, according to Usman Ilingin, is the lack of funding. “The government of the Samara region helps, parishioners and businesses also provide support. Nevertheless, I would like to complete all the work in October this year,” said the chairman of the Historical Mosque.

Now it is important to unite the efforts of the entire community in order to complete the reconstruction of the historic building.

The head of the region also contributed to this process. “I also took part in the completion of the Historical Mosque - I sent the amount from my salary, becoming a participant in this project,” said Dmitry Azarov. He urged the business community to more actively finance restoration work.

“This is a monument of the cultural and historical heritage of the multinational people of our land, a place of spiritual strength, a pearl of the regional capital, which we must help shine again. The unique building should decorate Samara as it was a century ago,” the head of the region emphasized.
