Security conference in Munich will be dedicated to Ukraine

The central theme of the Munich Security Conference opening today will be the crisis around Ukraine. The meeting will be held in person for the first time since the start of the pandemic. More than half a thousand politicians, businessmen and civil activists will take part in it.

Germany will be represented at the forum by Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Defense Minister Christina Lambrecht and Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock. Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will arrive from Washington. France will be represented at the forum by Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian, Great Britain - by the head of the Foreign Office, Liz Truss. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will speak via video link.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, Head of Finland Sauli Niinistö, Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki will also take part in the meetings.

Russian officials for various reasons will not participate in the conference. This was previously announced by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
