Nicaraguan President Ortega called the West an empire and condemned the aggression against Russia

As part of a meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov, Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega condemned Western aggression against Russia and expressed solidarity with the Russian people in the struggle for peace, RIA Novosti reports.

“Now the empire is again rebelling against the world, this is expressed in attacks on Russia. Let's not forget how a coup in Ukraine was made a few years ago. They tried to hold the same here in 2018 - to bathe Nicaraguans in blood ... ”, Ortega said.

He also stressed that the Russian delegation arrived with a peace agenda and expressed solidarity and support in the fight for peace to President Vladimir Putin.

The meeting with President Ortega was the final one for the Russian government delegation, which held talks with various departments during the work of the Russia-Nicaragua intergovernmental commission.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Borisov, the parties will work towards scaling up trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Earlier, Russian Ambassador Alexander Khokholikov announced plans to develop military cooperation with Nicaragua.
