In the Arctic came a strong snowstorm. Over the past day, 9,800 cubic meters of snow were removed from the streets of Murmansk, and 150 cubic meters of sand-salt mixture were used to sprinkle roads and sidewalks. Snow removal is carried out around the clock. During the day, 127 units of equipment work on the streets of the regional center, and 108 vehicles removed snow at night.

According to the Murmansk Department for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, on February 19 the weather will worsen. The region will be under the influence of a cyclone moving from the south of Finland to the Kola Peninsula. Snow is expected in the Murmansk region, in some places strong gusty winds, a blizzard, the air temperature will be -1 ... -6 ° during the day.

In the next two days, the cyclone will shift to the southeast of the Barents Sea: snow is expected in some places, gusty winds in the north of the region.

On the coast of Murmansk, the wind speed will reach 20-24 meters per second in gusts. In the west and in the central regions of the Barents Sea, the wind is somewhat weaker, from 15 to 18 meters per second. Slow icing of vessels is observed.
