Polish Prime Minister spoke about the new European sanctions against Russia

The European Union is developing a package of sanctions against Russia, which will be much "more powerful" than the one that was in 2014. This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki following the EU summit in Brussels, RIA Novosti reports.

The politician stressed that these measures will be introduced "at the time of Russia's aggression against Ukraine."

Earlier, the British The Financial Times, citing two informed persons, reported that the EU diplomatic service had proposed imposing sanctions on 27 Russian citizens in the event of a hypothetical Russian "invasion" of the territory of Ukraine. At the same time, Poland called for 55 representatives of the Russian Federation to be included in the sanctions list.

Prior to this, the US agency Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that the European Union, at the initiative of Italy, is considering the possibility of excluding the energy sector from new possible sanctions against Russia in the event of an escalation of the situation around Ukraine.
