Moldova - Members of the BCS protest against the decision to sell the Republican Stadium

Moldova (bbabo.net), - Members of the Political Bloc of Communists and Socialists organized a protest action in front of the government building as a sign of disagreement with the decision of the authorities to sell the territory of the Republican Stadium to the US Embassy in Moldova. on mutual understanding between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the United States of America on the acquisition of property for the construction of a new building of the US Embassy in Moldova, ipn.md reports

“We are witnessing how the country is being sold piece,” MP Hryhoriy Novak said during the protest. “The practice started by Plahotniuc is being continued by Maia Sandu. They used everything: political pressure, the Constitutional Court, an external factor. Today we cannot be sure that in this place we will have either a park with social significance or a sports complex. To date, all legal norms have been violated, this site has been underestimated, and the cost of this site and what were the interests are kept secret. Who did they ask when they decided to sell this stadium? Nobody. We will do all legal actions to return this stadium to the citizens,” the MP said.

Vice-President of the Parliament, socialist Vlad Batrincha said that President Maia Sandu met with the US Ambassador, and the next day the government made a decision on the Republican Stadium. “I asked a logical question, Mrs. President Maia Sandu, what have you built in the Republic of Moldova? Give at least one example - an institution, a house - zero! Closing schools, optimizing hospitals, city halls - that's all you can do. Today we are talking not only about the embassy, but also about the mockery of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova. When it comes to public property, there should be an auction so that people know at what price public property is being sold,” Vlad Batryncha said.

According to him, the bill providing for the sale of the stadium to the US Embassy was adopted by the “Vlad Plahotniuc regime” in 2018. In 2020, the Parliament, on the initiative of the Socialists, canceled this bill, and the land returned to public ownership. However, the "deputies of Maia Sandu" went to the Constitutional Court and achieved the abolition of the law.

Another protest action took place today: dozens of taxis circled the presidency building in protest against the rise in fuel prices.
