Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov urged the authors of the stories from the United States about the evacuation of Donbas residents to visit the region and personally get acquainted with how Kiev uses the “military assistance” provided by the American side there. This was reported on the page of the Russian diplomatic mission on Facebook.

The day before, the US State Department said that Washington sees reports of evacuations and explosions in Donbass as a pretext for launching a “false flag” operation against Ukraine.

According to Antonov, such reports from American officials are bewildering.

“Our willingness to host civilians in Donbass who fear for their lives is perceived by Washington as an element of propaganda aimed at justifying the “imminent invasion” of Ukraine,” the Russian ambassador said.

Antonov called such statements "another round of the American disinformation campaign against Russia."

Earlier it became known that the head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic Denis Pushilin signed a decree on general mobilization.
