Yatsenyuk's Wall completed - Ukrainians have no reason to fear Putin. Everything will be OK

Almost UAH 2.5 billion was spent on the project over 7 years

The project was presented by Arseniy Yatsenyuk at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on September 3, 2014. It was proposed to equip defensive structures and surveillance systems along the entire length of the Ukrainian border with Russia within six months. Also, the sea coast of the state and the demarcation line on the border with the Crimean autonomy should have been equipped.

As part of the project, 403 km of anti-vehicle ditches and 99 km of metal fences were built. Instead of the "Wall", the Cabinet of Ministers approved a new program for the development of the state border for UAH 36 billion.

The "Wall" project for the development of the state border, which was dubbed the "Yatsenyuk Wall" in social networks, has been completed, and 2.437 billion hryvnias have been spent from the state budget of Ukraine for its implementation in seven years.

The "Wall" is a defensive structure approximately 1.5 thousand kilometers long. This name is rather arbitrary: the complex includes trenches, trenches for equipment, dugouts, non-explosive obstacles, defensive lines, concrete ditches, towers, earthen ditches from five meters wide and up to two deep, and so on.

The period of implementation of the Action Plan for the engineering and technical arrangement of the Ukrainian-Russian state border within the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv and Lugansk regions, the Ukrainian-Moldovan state border, as well as territories adjacent to the administrative border with the temporarily occupied Crimea was completed

According to the State Border Service, from 2015 to 2021, 2.437 billion hryvnias were spent from the state budget of Ukraine for the construction of the Yatsenyuk Wall:

2015 - UAH 400 million;

2016 - 200 million;

2017 - 200 million;

2018 - 500 million;

2019 - 400 million;

2020 - 400 million;

2021 - 337.7 million

During the implementation of the project, 403 km of anti-vehicle ditches were equipped, 332 km of rock roads, 149 road crossings over ravines, 99 km of metal fences and 62 km of Egoza spiral barrier were built. In April-June 2022, according to the agency, it is planned to accept several more engineering structures.

On the sections of the state border in the Kharkiv region, 4 strongholds and 9 firing positions were equipped, as well as 9 complexes of video monitoring and signaling systems were built. A similar mechanism was also installed in the Luhansk region.

Everything will be fine

The project is criticized by both Russian and Ukrainian sides.

In August-November 2017, NABU detained 8 suspects who were charged with embezzlement of about UAH 16 million

People's Deputy of Ukraine Olena Sotnyk, after an inspection at the border, criticized the progress of construction work and called the entire project "a pit worth 4 billion hryvnias"
