Russia (bbabo.net), - Bicycle paths in Yekaterinburg have been decided to be continuous. To do this, they will be identified with the help of road markings, tactile stripes and will be regulated by traffic lights, the city administration said.

The mayor's office decided to optimize the traffic system on the streets after discussing the project for the development of Gogol, Engels and Karl Marx streets. Previously, designers proposed two options for organizing bicycle infrastructure - with the interruption of cycle paths before intersections or with the organization of bicycle crossings.

After analyzing the proposals, the specialists came to the conclusion that the creation of continuous bike paths would streamline traffic, promote cycling and help reduce car emissions. In the future, bike paths should become part of a continuous recreational framework that unites the key public spaces of the city.

Recall that last year Yekaterinburg developed a standard for comprehensive street improvement, which provides for the creation of a cycling infrastructure. One of the pilot projects for its implementation will be the streets of Engels, Gogol and Karl Marx.
