Russian President Vladimir Putin will have a telephone conversation with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron this Sunday, February 20. This was announced by the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov, reports TASS.

"Yes. Such a conversation is in the president’s schedule,” he said.

According to French media, President Macron intends to discuss the situation around Ukraine with Putin. On February 19, the French leader will have a talk with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Elysee Palace said that every opportunity must be used to prevent a confrontation that would destabilize the security situation in Europe. Also in Paris, they believe that a military conflict could lead to the fact that a "different geostrategic configuration" will develop on the European continent.

Putin and Macron last spoke by phone on February 12. On February 7, the leaders of France and Russia met face-to-face in the Kremlin, their negotiations lasted more than six hours.
