In the Donetsk People's Republic, special formations are being created to perform tasks in the field of defense in order to fulfill the tasks of protecting the DPR from an armed attack. This follows from the decree of the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin.

In accordance with the document, the interior troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be included in the composition of special forces during martial law. In addition, employees of the prosecutor's office, internal affairs bodies, state civil servants and employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are reserved by the Prosecutor General's Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the period of mobilization.

The command of the special forces, the creation of combat groups and the appointment of commanders of combat units will be carried out by the Prosecutor General of the DPR and the Minister of Internal Affairs.

In accordance with another decree of the head of the DPR, citizens born in 1995-2004 are called up for military service. On a voluntary basis, citizens over the age of 55 can be called up.
