Australian PM calls Russian peacekeeping in DPR and LPR nonsense

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison called "nonsense" statements about Russia's peacekeeping operations in the Donbass by the armed forces after the recognition of the LPR and DPR. It is reported by ABC News.

“The suggestion that they [Russian troops] are keeping the peace is nonsense. They entered the sovereign territory of Ukraine,” the Australian leader said. He added that after the recognition of the DPR and LPR, it was time to introduce "strong and tough" sanctions against Moscow. In addition, the Morrison government is discussing the issue of visas for Ukrainians who may have to leave their country due to Russia's "invasion".

The day before, Russian President Vladimir Putin, following a decree recognizing the DPR and LPR, instructed the Russian Ministry of Defense to ensure the maintenance of peace in the republics.

Earlier, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson promised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to provide additional military assistance in connection with Russia's recognition of the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics.
