Russia - Primorsky deputies supported the recognition of the LPR and the DPR

Russia (bbabo.net) - Deputies of the Legislative Assembly of Primorye supported the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin to recognize the sovereignty and independence of the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics, the press service of the regional parliament reports.

The decision was made on Tuesday at a regular meeting, during which Primorye Governor Oleg Kozhemyako addressed the deputies. He noted the importance of the emergency meeting of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, after which the President decided to recognize the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics.

According to Oleg Kozhemyako, since 2014, acts of terrorism have been committed on the territory of these republics, civilians have been killed.

- We cannot indifferently observe what is happening in the territories of the DPR and LPR, where our fellow citizens live - these are more than 800 thousand Russians who are in distress. Therefore, I ask the deputies to support these decisions and send an appeal to the country's leadership, - the head of Primorye urged the parliamentarians.

According to the chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Territory Alexander Rolik, the Decree on the recognition of the sovereignty of the LPR and the DPR, as well as agreements on friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance with the leadership of these two republics, signed by the president, are significant political events for all.

"This is a logical and correct step that puts an end to a whole era of uncertainty and opens up new opportunities for the development of the security architecture in Europe. But most importantly, the inhabitants of these republics get the opportunity to live freely, raise and educate their children, and work under the protection of the Russian Federation," he explained.

The decision of the head of state was supported by representatives of all five factions operating in the Primorye parliament by a majority of votes.

Meanwhile, today at a meeting with the heads of municipalities and relevant departments, Oleg Kozhemyako said that Primorye would provide the necessary assistance to residents of the Luhansk and Donetsk republics, if needed.

"Our country will have the means to protect these people. And Primorye will not stand aside - although we are far away, we are not indifferent to what is happening," he said.
