Russian President Vladimir Putin during a press conference said that Ukraine's refusal to join NATO and neutrality would be the best solution to the conflict between Kiev and Moscow.

“The best solution to this issue would be for our colleagues in Western countries not to lose face, so that the current Kiev authorities themselves refuse to join NATO, in fact, adhere to neutrality,” the Russian president said.

He also invited Western countries to recognize the decision of the inhabitants of Crimea and Sevastopol to reunite with Russia, as happened in the situation with Kosovo. Putin stressed that no one drove the inhabitants of Crimea to the polling stations at gunpoint or under bayonets, they came voluntarily and made their decision to reunite with Russia.

In the same speech, Putin stated that the Minsk agreements no longer exist after Russia recognized the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DNR and LNR).

According to him, Russia has been engaged in the Minsk agreements for almost 8 years and was interested in their implementation. The head of state stressed that it was not easy to reach a compromise on the Minsk agreements, but it was found and it was a real movement towards a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
