The Rada registered a draft resolution on an appeal to the President of Ukraine with a request to close the border with Russia and Belarus, according to the website of the Parliament.

The draft resolution also provides for the declaration of martial law on the territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions and the termination of transport links with the Russian Federation.

As specified, the adoption of the project is due to the fact of Russia's "military aggression", the creation of its "occupation administrations" in the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions and the "violation" of the Russian Federation of "the principles of international law and international obligations."

The initiative was initiated by Oksana Savchuk, a deputy from the nationalist party Svoboda.

The parliament also registered a draft resolution on sanctions against deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation who voted for the recognition of the sovereignty of the DPR and LPR, and draft resolutions on the severance of diplomatic relations with Russia.

On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the sovereignty of the DNR and LNR, treaties of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance were also concluded with their leaders.
