Germany was looking for an excuse to stop Nord Stream 2

Steffen Kotre, a member of the German Bundestag Committee on International Policy, said that the “anti-Russian” German government was simply looking for an excuse to stop the Nord Stream 2 project, RIA Novosti reports.

“The federal government will set conditions that Russia cannot fulfill,” she stressed.

Kotre noted that this decision, which violates international law and contributes to the growth of gas prices, demonstrates a contradiction to Germany's interests.

Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz instructed the Ministry of Economy to stop the certification of Nord Stream 2. We are talking about the revocation of the document on the basis of which the Federal Network Agency carried out the certification of the gas pipeline operator.

This decision was announced after Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree recognizing the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. According to Scholz, the gas pipeline cannot yet be certified due to Russia's "recent actions".
