The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in the first reading a bill on the free possession of firearms. As UNIAN reports, the initiative was supported by 274 deputies out of 352 present in the hall. At the same time, the purpose of the new document draws attention to itself. This, we quote: "Securing the basic rights and obligations of citizens and legal entities in the production, acquisition, possession, disposal and use of weapons and ammunition, the settlement of other social relations that are associated with this." However, the document does not say anything about why the issue of free possession of weapons is ripe now. Nor is there a word about the dangerous consequences for society, which the free possession of weapons has already led to in the United States, where not a day goes by without bloody shootings.

Paradoxically, the deputies literally publicly signed for the failure of the Ukrainian state. They confirmed his inability to ensure one of the key rights of citizens - to life and security. The deputies acknowledged that "the state is not able to protect its citizens from criminal encroachments." At the same time, for some reason, the people's representatives are confident that the free possession of weapons by citizens will become "a deterrent for a significant part of the criminals." Although other consequences of this step are also obvious - the strengthening of armed gangs, which are already enough in modern Ukraine.

The new initiative involves the issuance of certificates to the owners of firearms (first for three, and then for five years, but able-bodied citizens of Ukraine, foreigners and stateless persons who permanently reside on the territory of the country will be able to get it) and changing the classification of weapons.
