Newsweek: US warned Zelensky about Russian invasion within 48 hours

The US administration has warned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about the high likelihood of a Russian invasion within the next two days. This is reported by Newsweek, citing a US intelligence source.

“The President of Ukraine has been warned that Russia is likely to launch an invasion within 48 hours, based on US intelligence. In addition, reports from aerial monitors indicate that Russia violated Ukrainian airspace this morning by making a short flight over Ukraine, possibly with a reconnaissance aircraft,” the source said.

A source close to Zelenskiy's government also confirmed to the outlet that such a warning had been received, but noted that this was the third time in a month that Kiev had received such alerts.

Earlier, Deputy Assistant to the President of the United States for National Security Jonathan Finer said on MSNBC that the White House considers Russia's recognition of the DPR and LPR to be the beginning of an invasion of Ukraine.

According to him, by its actions, Russia "greatly reduced the likelihood" of a diplomatic solution to the Ukrainian crisis.
