Poland and Lithuania supported Ukraine's accession to the EU

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that Poland and Lithuania signed a statement of support for granting Ukraine the status of an EU candidate. It is reported by TASS.

According to him, this step is very important for the Ukrainian society and for the unification of Ukraine.

Zelensky thanked the leaders of Poland and Lithuania for signing this document and for supporting Ukraine.

Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that Europe should take Ukraine to itself. According to him, the EU should cast aside all the doubts, restraint and skepticism that exists in some capitals, and give Ukraine the promise of future EU membership.

Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis said that Kiev's implementation of the association agreement with the European Union will pave the way for the next possible steps to integrate the state into the association. At the same time, Brussels cannot name any specific dates for Ukraine's accession to the EU.

As President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky noted, it makes no sense to ask the leadership of the European Union about membership after the fact, since this decision is more dependent on member states that have questions about Kiev joining the bloc.
