Erdogan spoke about telephone diplomacy with Putin

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will hold telephone conversations with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told RIA Novosti.

“Indeed, such a conversation is planned,” said the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation.

According to preliminary information, the dialogue will take place on February 23.

Prior to this, Erdogan told reporters on the plane after returning from an African tour that he was going to talk with Putin, but preparations for a face-to-face meeting had not been cancelled.

“Currently, contacts are being established for the visit of Mr. Putin. In the meantime, we will continue telephone diplomacy with him. I hope that we will achieve good results,” the Turkish President said.

Earlier, Recep Tayyip Erdogan decided to suspend his tour of African countries and return to his homeland due to the escalation between Russia and Ukraine. He emphasized that Ankara does not agree with Moscow's decision to recognize the independence of the DNR and LNR. Upon his return, the President took part in the NATO online summit.
