Russia - Parliamentarians consider sanctions against them an assessment of their work

Russia (bbabo.net), - Sanctions against Russian parliamentarians who voted for the recognition of the DPR and LPR are an assessment of their work in the West. This was stated by Senator from Crimea Olga Kovitidi. A similar opinion was expressed by Konstantin Zatulin, First Deputy Head of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs.

Earlier, the EU unanimously adopted a package of sanctions against Russia for recognizing people's republics. In particular, deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, who voted for the recognition of independence, were under restrictive measures. The European Union clarified that there are 351 parliamentarians on the list. Recall that the State Duma more than a week ago approved an appeal to the head of state on this matter. The deputies later said that this was the last warning, to which the countries of the West did not react.

"This is just a foreign assessment of our work by opponents of my fatherland," said Kovitidi, quoted by RIA Novosti.

She also called the sanctions themselves "useless" and "stamped" - some of them hit politicians and businessmen more than once.

The senator herself has been on the sanctions lists of the United States, Great Britain, Australia, the European Union, and Canada since 2014. According to her, the restrictions do not interfere with her in any way.

"This is another reason to demonstrate that people in Russia prefer to be under sanctions than to dance to the tune of the West and not be under sanctions," Konstantin Zatulin, who also has a rich "sanctions past", emphasized in turn.

He also drew attention to the fact that the number of deputies who voted for an appeal to the president regarding the recognition of the LPR and DPR does not coincide with the number of parliamentarians subject to sanctions.

"There were 358 people who voted in the Duma, why there are 351 people on the list, I can't say," the politician added.

Sanctions, he said, only lead to the destruction of the remaining inter-parliamentary dialogue. "We will have to cancel a number of planned events, most likely, or participate in them online," the deputy stated.
