Employees of the Russian diplomatic departments in Ukraine, including the embassy in Kiev, returned to Russia at night. This was told by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, RIA Novosti reports.
“Yes, everyone got there. At night they crossed the border. They left all foreign missions on the territory of Ukraine,” Zakharova said, adding that she had previously talked with the charge d'affaires of the Russian embassy in Kiev, who spoke about the process of evacuating diplomatic personnel.
Earlier, the Russian Embassy in Ukraine clarified that all employees had been evacuated, and the property of the diplomatic mission had been taken out before that.
Later it became known that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine was evacuating the staff of the embassy in Moscow, and was also recalling Vasily Pokotilo, Charge d'Affaires in the Russian Federation, for consultations on the situation in Ukraine.
