Moldova closes Sputnik Moldova website

On February 26, the head of the Information and Security Service (ISS) of Moldova, Alexander Esaulenko, instructed to close the Sputnik Moldova website. It is reported by TASS.

According to the SIS, Sputnik Moldova allegedly disseminated information that "incites hatred and war under the state of emergency."

This week it was reported that the European Union is considering imposing sanctions against Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of the Russian state-owned English-language TV channel Russia Today.

The Union of Journalists of Russia (UJR) criticized the sanctions against the Russian media.

In early February, the German regulator MABB banned the RT DE TV channel from broadcasting in Germany due to the lack of a license. It is specified that RT DE Productions has four weeks to challenge this decision in the administrative court.

The press service of the RT DE TV channel called the actions of the regulator unlawful and stated that they "violate the European Convention on Cross-border Television (ECTT)".
