Russia - Senator Klishas: Western sanctions tools have been exhausted

Russia (bbabo.net), - The fact that the West resorts rather to symbolic sanctions indicates that this toolkit has been exhausted. And the restrictions will not lead to a break in relations between the Russian Federation and the countries that introduced them. This was stated by the head of the Committee of the Federation Council on constitutional legislation Andrei Klishas.

Earlier it became known that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov were included in the sanctions lists of the European Union and Great Britain. Restrictions imply the freezing of assets (if they are discovered). However, they do not impose a ban on entry.

"The fact that a number of Western countries, in the frenzy of sanctions, have switched to spectacular, but, as they themselves admit, symbolic gestures, suggests that their sanctions tools have been exhausted," Klishas said, quoted by RIA Novosti.

In addition, the politician does not expect that sanctions against the leadership of the Russian Federation will lead to a break in relations with the EU and the UK.

"Relations with them will continue in the interests of Russia and international peace and security," the senator said.

Sanctions against Russia were imposed for its refusal to stop a special military operation to demilitarize Ukraine. They affected 98 Russian officials, deputies and security officials, as well as representatives of the command staff of the Belarusian army. In addition to Putin and Lavrov, restrictions have been introduced, in particular, against Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev.

Sanctions have also been imposed on 64 key Russian state and industrial structures and against four banks.
