Source in the Ministry of Defense: information about the Russian strike on the house in Kyiv is fake

A source in the Russian Ministry of Defense said that the information about the Russian strike on a residential building in Kyiv is not true. The relevant press release is available.

According to him, the nature of the damage to the house, located on Lobanovsky Avenue, indicates that an anti-aircraft missile hit it. And this is clearly seen in the video circulated on social networks.

“Obviously, in the course of repulsing the night rocket attack on the military infrastructure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a failure occurred in the missile guidance system of the Ukrainian Buk-M1 medium-range air defense system and the missile hit the corner of a residential building,” the source said.

According to him, after the loss of the Gostomel airfield, three Buk-M1 launchers of the air defense of the armed forces of Ukraine were deployed on February 25 to strengthen the cover of the Zhuliany airport in Kyiv.

“The reason for the failure of the missile of the Ukrainian Buk-M1 air defense system is most likely the lack of the necessary routine maintenance and the objective aging of equipment that has been in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine since Soviet times,” the source added.

The day before, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the appearance of a bright torch over Kiev on the morning of February 25, followed by a fall on a residential building, was due to the fact that the Ukrainian air defense complex mistakenly struck a Su-27 fighter of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
