Those who laid down their arms think about the future, about their families and will be able to live in a peaceful, independent and democratic Ukraine, the speaker stressed. He specified the reasons.

Firstly, those who make such decisions see the lack of independence of Kyiv, Volodin noted. This regime operates at the behest of Washington and Brussels, and American advisers and instructors are now working in all government bodies of the country, Volodin recalled. "This cannot please Ukrainians who love their Motherland," he stressed.

The second reason is that no one, he said, wants to die for the oligarchs and nationalists who have plundered a country with great potential. "The corrupt government acts solely in its own interests, wants to survive at any cost, without thinking about the citizens of Ukraine," Volodin said. "It is not surprising that many Ukrainian officials and businessmen have already fled abroad."

Third, he continued, the Ukrainian military understands that nothing threatens their families. The politician recalled that within the framework of a special peacekeeping operation, the Russian authorities set the task of demilitarizing Ukraine and ridding it of neo-Nazis. Now they are attacking residential areas of cities, using civilians as human shields. "As a result, there are dead among the population. It is from such scumbags that civilians must be saved," the speaker said.

He expressed confidence that the citizens of Ukraine have been waiting for these changes for many years. "Russia, more than anyone else, is interested in bringing peace to Ukrainian soil, which has not been there for eight years," Volodin stressed.

On the first day of the special operation (February 24), the Ministry of Defense announced that the Ukrainian military were laying down their arms en masse. On February 25, in the morning, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Major General Igor Konashenkov, stated that the largest number of them, according to him, voluntarily surrendered in the area of ​​​​Snake Island. There, 82 Ukrainian servicemen immediately expressed their desire to stop hostilities. A subscription was taken from them refusing to participate in hostilities, after which the military will return to their families. This happens in other places where military personnel surrender.
