Moldova (bbabo.net), - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilitsa today convened an online meeting to consolidate and coordinate the efforts of central and local authorities to effectively manage the flow of refugees in the Republic of Moldova in the context of the war in Ukraine. The meeting was attended by mayors and representatives of the LPA, the Congress local authorities of Moldova, representatives of the territorial departments of the State Chancellery, representatives of the Parliament, the leadership of the State Chancellery, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, responsible persons of the Bureau for Migration and Asylum, as well as representatives of social welfare departments, reports moldpres.md

Natalya Gavrilitsa noted that at yesterday's meeting, the Commission for Emergency Situations approved a number of measures for social protection and price regulation for some essential goods. At the same time, the decision of the Commission for Emergency Situations ensured the stability of the price of electricity until March 2023.

“It has only been two days since the citizens of Ukraine arrive in the Republic of Moldova, we expect a greater influx of refugees in the subsequent period. At the same time, we have many who want to help, and it is important that every effort be made to provide the necessary assistance to the citizens of Ukraine. I ask you to simplify communication between citizens and state institutions as much as possible,” the prime minister said.

Minister of Labor and Social Protection Marcel Spatar said that the Regulation on the organization and functioning of the Temporary Accommodation Center for Refugees had been developed, thanked for the support provided in its finalization and specified that the document would be sent to all social assistance structures in the country.

“I am confident that the social assistance structures in the districts will be able to effectively manage the situation and provide the services that the refugees need. All flows of refugees are directed to the Open Accommodation Center at Moldexpo. At the same time, dozens of other temporary accommodation centers have been identified, which will start working in stages, if necessary," the minister specified.

At the meeting, the mayors reported on the accommodation opportunities identified in their settlements, asked about the organized transportation of refugees from the border checkpoints, informed the central authorities about the needs that the refugees notified, and also discussed the mechanism for distributing donated and collected goods in Chisinau to refugee gathering places.

In case of any uncertainty regarding the redirection of the flow of migrants, LPA representatives were urged to call the “green line” number 080001527, which operates around the clock at the call center of the Bureau for Migration and Asylum, and for questions regarding the establishment of accommodation centers, contact local social assistance structures , which will ensure coordination of actions with the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.

At the end of the meeting, the Prime Minister thanked citizens, non-governmental organizations and public authorities for their responsiveness and stated that state institutions were mobilized to intervene and provide the necessary assistance.

“I thank all the participants for their solidarity and openness. I am sure that we will come out of this crisis even stronger,” Natalia Gavrilitsa summed up.
