Peskov spoke about Putin's attitude to sanctions against him

Russian President Vladimir Putin is indifferent to personal sanctions, he has no assets abroad. This was announced during a regular briefing by the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov, TASS reports.

He stressed that Putin declares all his property every year.

“The sanctions contain rather absurd provisions about some assets, etc. Everyone knows that some assets, in fact, except for those that are declared every year in the amount of a trailer and an apartment, and some other bank deposits, there is no president,” Peskov explained.

At the same time, he called the introduction of sanctions personally against the President of the Russian Federation short-sighted and absurd from a political point of view.

“If we take [sanctions] from the point of view of solving problems, then, of course, the very fact of imposing sanctions against the head of state is no less absurd, very short-sighted,” he said.

Answering a question about the possible introduction of retaliatory personal sanctions against Western leaders, Peskov stressed that Russia in this matter will proceed solely from its own national interests.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a military special operation in the Donbass in response to a request for help from the heads of the LPR and DPR. Ukraine severed diplomatic relations with Russia. The decision to conduct the operation became the reason for new sanctions against Russia by the United States and its allies, including personal sanctions against the President of the Russian Federation.
